There are limitations when using Direct Discovery and Sections Access in Qlik Sense.
Due to some of those Direct Discovery
limitations Section Access
may work when testing QVW in Server-mode
but not Qlikview Desktop mode.
Thus, when dealing with Section Access
in Direct Discovery Model
, the following should be taken into consideration
- All of the users using the same application with the Direct Discovery capability use the same connection. Authentication pass-through and credentials-per-user are not supported.
This explains that there are no single-sign-on / pass through of the credentials / user delegation based on the end-user’s username accessing the web ui to the database. So you can’t use any access rules per user you might have configured in the database. The username used in the connection accessing the database will be the same for all users so it should be some kind of service account (that has complete access to what all users need to view). The access control needed will have to be implemented in the QV document with the help of section access.
- Section Access is supported in server mode only (see provided link).
Section access together with direct discovery will only work server side and not in desktop
