Clicking in Search box again will make results box disappear
Typing in the text box will now produce the warning message and the typed text will disappear.
Highlighting Text with the Mouse and Pressing Backspace
Highlighting a portion (or all) of the text with the mouse in the search box and pressing backspace will result in the warning message appearing and the text disappearing.
Highlighting Text with the Mouse and Typing Over the Highlighted Text

This behavior is fixed in QlikView November 2017 SR2 (12.20.20300).
