After installalling/upgrading to Qlik Sense Desktop June 2017, the application list presented is empty despite documents being stored in the default folder on the file system. Any attempt to create a new App reports the following error:
An error occurred.
The app could not be created and in certain cases you are unable to find the app on file system in default location.
Multiple issues caused by RansomWare
protection option of BitDefender
active on %userprofile%\Documents
How to verify:
- a new folder is created in %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Programs\Qlik\Sense\Qlik\Sense\App
- any settings you make in %userprofile%\Documents\Qlik\Sense\App are not applied .
- Open the dev-hub > Engine Api > Connect, and verify default path with GetMyDocumentFolder
If Bit Defender Ransomware option is active, an empty path is returned :
Disable Bit Defender Ransomware
protection on folder %userprofile%\Documents\Qlik
should now result in:
If disabling of Bit Defender, or exclusion of %userprofile%\Documents\Qlik
is not viable, re-install with a different foler.
In the new Qlik/Sense folder created under %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Programs\Qlik\Sense\Qlik\Sense\App
modify the Settings.ini
and add a new folder outside control of Ransomware like. [Settings 7]
Make sure that an empty line is added at the end of the document before saving.
