FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) are a set of standards that describe document processing, encryption algorithms.
When setting up a Qlik Sense Server multi node environment, the two settings below should be disabled.
1. Usage of FIPS compliant algorithms on the Central and Rim nodes.
2. The Security policy “System cryptography: should be undefined and blank”
According to the Qlik Sense system release notes, it clearly mentions that the Rim node would lose connection to the central node when the above settings are applied.
To test and confirm that this is exactly the cause of the issue, the above two settings have been applied to a pre - existing QS working environment. After applying these two settings and fully restarting the server, the Rim node stopped communicating with the Central node.
This same issue can also stop the installation process from being completed on the Rim node as in screenshot below, the installation process will break while attempting to communicate with the repository database.
These two settings should be disabled to progress with setting up the required Qlik Sense Multi Node environment.
Attached a screenshot from the Qlik Server where the issue has been replicated.
