The hypercube results are too large message essentially means that Qlik Sense is limiting the size of the response to prevent a non-responsive engine and/or browser when handling large data sets.
This behavior is due to bug fix QLIK-24558 which was introduced in 2.1.1 which remedied instability relating to visualizing maps. The current behavior is working as designed.
- (Recommended) Limit the data set. It is an intentional security limit so the user does not query for too much data in the hypercube.
- (Not recommended due to stability concerns) / Not a supported config option: Modify the Settings.ini value for MaxSizeOfResponse to allow a larger than default response which will visualize the data. The default value is set to 20971520, which is 20*1024*1024. If you are going to undertake this, it is ideal to try out the required value in Qlik Sense Desktop first.
To modify the Settings.ini
for:Qlik Sense Enterprise / Server
A. Stop the Qlik Sense Engine Service
B. Backup C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Engine\Settings.ini
C. Delete C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Engine\Settings.ini
D. Start the Qlik Sense Engine Service
E. Open the Settings.ini file in a text editor while logged in as the service account
F. Edit the Settings.ini like so (the blank line at the end is required):
G. Restart the Qlik Sense Engine Service
H. Verify the new value is sufficient. There is not a pre-set value which will work with all data sets, so you will need to experiment.
Qlik Sense Desktop:
A. The Settings.ini file will be located in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Qlik\Sense\
B. Follow steps F and H above.
Please note, This applies to the table exporting as well. This limitation is mentioned in Qlik Help
