Issue:
- We would like to burst deliver a single NPrinting Report to a Active Directory Distribution List rather than having NPrinting recreate the same report (during the NPrinting distribution process) for each user within an NPrinting 'Group' (attached to the NPrinting Publish task>Users/Groups).
Note: NPrinting is designed only to send emails in series (one at a time). It is not capable of sending emails in parallel (bursting). The solution provided in this article provides a recommendation as to how you may deploy bursting in your environment.
Resolution:
- Create a new NPrinting 'Distribution' user account in the NP Web Console via Admin>Users
- Insert a user name in the user name field and the Distribution List email address in the email address field
- Insert the remaining required fields
- Save the user information
- Switch to the 'Roles' tab/button for the new NPrinting 'Distribution' User
- Add the default 'User' NPrinting security role (if you have a custom user security role you may use that as well).
- Create a new NPrinting Publish Task or use an existing NPrinting Publish task
- Switch to the 'users/groups' tab within the NPrinting Publish task and insert the name of the new NPrinting 'Distribution' user
- In this NPrinting Publish Task, ensure that you enable 'Email' under the Reports button set the Destination for this user to 'email'
- Run the the Publish Task and allow complete task execution
- Check the Admin>Executions page for a success message for the task
- Further verify success by checking the NPrinting Scheduler log. You should find a message similar to below:
Qlik.NPrinting.Repo 19.40.3.0 Qlik.NPrinting.Repo.Service.ReportPublishingService 20200204T104838.888-08:00 INFO YOURQLIKSERVERX 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 The e-mail for bucket a58025dc-2a8c-41ae-b6f4-fb84f36490d3 has been sent to dl-nprintingtestdlusersgroup@yourdomain.com
NOTE: Do NOT insert any domain account information in the domain account field
- Keep in mind that if the email is not being delivered at this point it is because it is being blocked by the email server spam/junk filter. This may or may not be captured in the NPrinting Scheduler logs.
- Please contact the email server administrator and provide the the source email address (sender address) and target email address (recipient DL-Address) so they can be exempted from email server spam filters.
- NPrinting user filters cannot be respected since this method bypasses processing of NPrinting user specific filters. Filters associated with the NP report and NP publish task will be respected.
- To leverage individual NP user filters and or Qlik section access, you must using NPrinting users/groups to distribute your reports. This will allow each NP user filter and or Qlik section access to be processed as expected.
