QlikView: Cannot redirect to custom login page on different web server after a timeout
Article Number: 000081415 | Last Modified: 2019/08/19
Description
A custom login page using ticket authentication has been deployed on a separate web server. Everything seems to work fine, but when a user's session times out, users are not redirected back to the custom login page. Instead, users are stuck seeing a reconnecting window that doesn't reconnect. Setting "Custom login page" to "/qlikview/FormLogin.htm" or "https://test.com/qlikview/FormLogin.htm" works fine, the login page is displayed, but if set to the same page located on a different web server, such as "https://qlikview.example/qlikview/FormLogin.htm", it will attempt to reconnect and fail instead of showing the login screen. Redirection should be working because when using the sign out option, users are redirected successfully. How can this be made to work when a timeout happens?
Environments: All versions of QlikView
Cause
Working as designed.
Resolution
R&D explained that there is a security check that is done against the domain, machine, and protocol, which is preventing the redirect from happening by design. Signing out should be doing the same checks, but apparently not so there might be an issue there that they will look into to make everything consistent. In other words, redirecting to another server cannot be done, so the current setup must be adjusted to accommodate a local custom login page.
