NPrinting Office macros are not applied when the report is generated in PDF format
Article Number: 000079195 | Last Modified: 2019/07/18
Description
A macro has been added in an Office report in NPrinting. The macro is applied if the report is generated in PDF format. The same macro is not applied if the report is generated in PDF format.
Environment:
NPrinting 16
NPrinting 18 and higher releases
Cause
It is possible to add a macro in a Office template. The macro is automatically applied to the generated report when it is opened the first time with Microsoft Office. This means that it is necessary to open the Office report with Microsoft Office at least once to have the macro applied. In fact, macros are Office features and NPrinting does not use Microsoft Office to generate the report: Office is necessary only to edit a report, not to run it. So, NPrinting does not run the Office macro during the report creation and, since the conversion from Office to PDF format is done automatically, without passing through Microsoft Office, the macro cannot be applied when the report is generated in PDF format.
Resolution
This is a limitation in the use of macros in NPrinting. A possible workaround is to generate the report in Office format, open it using Office and convert it in PDF.
