GeoAnalytics maps fail to load after 3-5 min when an app contains more than one GeoAnalytics map objects.
Environment:
GeoAnalytics for Qlik Sense
Qlik does not have a limit to the number of maps an app can have. Performance issues resulting from multiple maps is not only dependent on the number of them, but also on how much data the maps include.
Maps (compared to the other charts) are able to show large amounts of data at the same time on a single object (the map). For other charts (with the exception of scatter plot) screen size limits how much it can display and require to be calculated at the same time. For instance in a bar chart it is not possible to show more than a hundred or so bars on the screen on the same time. This limits the data that need to be fetched from the hypercube.
But in the map the user can easily load up with a couple of millions points. Escalating this issue is the area layer, since each area is built from a set of points.
Should performance issues be observed with multiple maps, or even just wit hone, the map and how much is shown would need to be reviewed. It is possible to create a drilldown for multiple points using a Cluster, Binning, or Within operation. If the map includes areas it may need to be run through Simplify to get simpler (and thereby faster areas). See
