QlikView upgrade order: Desktop clients or Server first?

When upgrading QlikView, should the Desktop clients be upgraded before or after the server?

Environment:

QlikView, any

There is no preferred order.

The important thing is to make sure that everything is upgraded before starting working with the new setup, as unaligned versions are not supported and might cause issues: QlikView: do customers need to update the clients every time they upgrade the server? Are unaligned versions supported?
 

Internet Explorer plugins should also be upgraded before opening any document from the access point.
