Qlik Sense: Selection applied on objects do not appear in the selection bar

Current selections are not shown in the selection bar, even though the selections have been applied to all objects. This issue started happening after upgrading to Qlik Sense September 2018

After upgrading to Qlik Sense September 2018, users make selections and can see that the selections have been applied but the selections are not shown in the selection bar. This issue was also reported for users in November 2018.

The behavior was sometimes intermittent. The issue was reported to be seen with a histogram chart and could be reproduced intermittently with these steps:

1. Have a sheet with several objects
2. Add a histogram  to sheet
3. Make a range selection and confirm
4. Make one more range selection and confirm
5. Open the listbox in current selection and make a couple of more selections, and then confirm
6. Clear the selections
The selections are still visible in current selections, but the object is updated. The two are not aligned and do not agree with each other

This behavior was also seen intermittently with other chart types when a conditional view was set up as described in this community post: Conditional view GetSelectedCount

 

A request being aborted by the engine. That request has invalidated the selection bar and this is never communicated to the client and then engine and client gets out of sync and the selection bar can't be cleared.
