Join UsIt was reported that when getting data from a MS SQL database from a table with a field containing xml, some rows were empty, even though the same rows were not empty in the database. Attempts were made to cast the field to nvarchar: cast(CaseXmlNew as varchar(max)) as CaseXmlNew
but this did not help resolve the behavior. In the log file the following error was seen:
Error: Cannot open file: '***'
This issue happened while using the Microsoft SQL Server connection listed in the Qlik Sense Huh.
Environment:
Qlik Sense Nov 2018
This issue was reproduced by Qlik Support using the Qlik-provided Microsoft SQL Server connection.
This issue was resolved by switching to use a different type of connection. Using a system DSN and ODBC connection, the issue with some blank rows was no longer present and the xml data was loaded without any issue.
Please reference this article How To Connect MS SQL Server Using Native ODBC Driver -Qlik Sense for more details on how to create the System DSN for Microsoft SQL Server and how to create the connection in the Qlik Sense Hub.
