Join UsAn SID is a Security Identifier, a unique ID which is assigned by a Windows Domain controller during the log on process that is used to identify a subject, such as a user or a group of users in a network of Windows systems.
The SID can be related to the machine and the domain / host name. SID modifications can impact on domain users and groups as well as the host name.
It is not recommended to change a Qlik Sense server SID.
Whenever there is a need to change a Qlik Sense server SID, we recommend the steps below:
1. Make a backup of Qlik Sense - see article below
2. Uninstall Qlik Sense
3. Change the SID of the server
4. Re-install Qlik Sense
5. Restore the site, the repository database and all the apps from the backup into the re-installed version
For backup and restore detailed information please see the article: How To Take Backup And Restore Qlik Sense June 2017 or higher
The reason is related to the fact that Qlik Sense always has to be installed after setting the SID on the server machine.
