Can Session CALs be dedicated to users or documents?

Can Session CALs be restricted or dedicated to user groups or individual groups?

Resolution

Session CALs (as well as Usage CALs) cannot be specifically dedicated to documents or users (or AD groups).

They are globally distributed across the entire platform on demand.

They are used when either:

• A user opens a document, and the user does not have a Named User CAL or Document CAL, and none are configured to be assigned automatically
• An anonymous user opens a document 

Only Named User CALs and Document CALs can be assigned based on users. Named User CALs on users and groups.
