Created the storage account, configured the windows credentials and mapped as network drive. Can access, read and write to the file share from the service user using the UNC path. But during the installation get the message “The service user does not have permission to write to the Root folder, make sure that it exists and has the correct permissions."

This is caused by the installation pointing to the Azure storage but the initial access to the storage location failing.

Environment:
Qlik Sense February 2018 and later

Workaround

  • Set up a Local share
  • Use the local share in the installer
  • Uncheck the box which starts services after install
  • Edit C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Installation\InitialServiceCluster.xml to point to the remote share assuming the service account has permissions on the share and the file system
  • Start services
