Google BigQuery connectors of both Qlik ODBC Connector Package and Qlik Web Connectors now use Google authentication code/ token that is linked to individual accounts. This causes problems when the person leaves and the Google account is deactivated.
Google provides service account authentication to prevent this situation (https://developers.google.com/identity/protocols/OAuth2ServiceAccount). However, Google BigQuery Connector and Qlik Web Connectors do not yet provide authentication using Google service account as of the latest release (Qlik Web Connectors 2.47.0 and Qlik OBDC Connector Package 5.8.1)
Supporting Google service account has been requested as an improvement for R&D to consider in future releases of the connector.
Please also be noted that Google BigQuery connector of Qlik Web Connectors is now deprecated. The official connector to Google BigQuery for QlikView and Qlik Sense is Qlik ODBC Connector Package.
Environments:
- Qlik Web Connectors 2.47.0
- Qlik OBDC Connector Package 5.8.1
While waiting for the feature request to be implemented, a work-around solution could be using Simba ODBC driver for Google BigQuery, which supports Google service account. The driver can be downloaded at
