QlikView - Limitation with Section Access combined with the Alternate State
Article Number: 000056109 | Last Modified: 2018/09/11
Description
Symptom: When assigning a section access to the QVW file, it is not possible to transfer selections from more than one state at a time.
Cause of the issue: This is a known limitation with section access in general and data reduction in particular when combined with the alternate state feature. The alternate state functionality make heavy use of the cache layer and this cache layer is very much suspended when combined with section access in order to make sure that no values that are cached "leaks" into another session or into the data of another user that should not have access to the cached data. Unfortunately, this affects the alternate states in several ways, but mainly since all reductions involves a pre-selection of data and it is this initial selection that needs to be cleared in order to be able to transfer state content between different states. On top of this, it will not be possible to transfer selections from more than one state at a time since we are not using the cache in order to retrieve all values at once only when necessary.
