The QlikLogging server is not starting. Windows displays:

Error 1064: An exception occurred in the service when handling the control request

Windows application event log is showing PostgreSQL errors:

FATAL: no pg_hba.conf entry for host »<xxxx::xxxx:xxxx:xxxxx>«, user »qlogs_reader«, database »QLogs«, SSL off

Environment:

QlikSense June 2017 or later

Cause:

The Logging Service is trying to connect via IPv6 and not IPv4

Resolution:

  • Navigate to the location of pg_hba.conf
    • Default: C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Repository\PostgreSQL\9.6 (where 9.6 reflects the PostgreSQL version installed. Might vary depending on your Qlik Sense version.)
  • Open pg_hba.conf
  • Add the line:
    host all all ::/0 md5
  • Restart all services

For more information please see PostgreSQL: postgres.conf and pg_hba.conf explained .
