Qlik Sense or QlikView reload fails on rim node: ErrorMsg: SQL Server does not exist or access denied

An app or document reload fails on a rim node, with the following error being logged in the document log:

ErrorSource: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server, ErrorMsg: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied

This only happens on the rim node. The reload works when executing on a central node.

Resolution

The error indicates a network communication issue. Firewalls or specific application security on the database server prevent the rim node from accessing it.

Contact your database administrator to have the permissions or rules adjusted to match those for the central node.
