An authentication popup for authenticating the On-Demand connection to NPrinting appears when the app that uses On-Demand is opened or when the On-Demand object is used.

Environment:

Resolution

  1. Check if IWA is enabled or set to always prompt. See Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) with Qlik using Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox
  2. If the user logged in to the Windows machine is different from the one who is trying to generate On-Demand report, NPrinting is unable to authenticate the user with the available credentials and hence the popup is expected to appear.
  3. The user may be also asked to re-authenticate if the "Domain Account" field in the NPrinting User settings is not configured.
  4. If NPrinting is configured to use a different Domain Name than the one who is initiating the On-Demand report, see NPrinting connection to QlikSense with servers on different Active Directory domains
  5. If the authentication URL used by the NPrinting extension is used on a new session and it leads to a auth prompt, On-Demand is behaving as expected.
  6. If accessing NPrinting using the FQDN doesn't prompt for re-authentication, the FQDN should be used instead when installing the On-Demand add-on (qlikview) or when configuring the On-Demand extension object (Qlik Sense).

Cause

In most scenarios the behavior described here is caused by an environmental condition or setting.

If the logged in user's credentials as different from that of the user accessing Qlikview OR if the NPrinting URL configured during On Demand installation prompts to authenticate generally, this is an expected behavior.
