Description
During Qlik Sense maintenance, upgrade etc. certain scenarios may occur where you need to use repository database binaries for backup, restore etc. The default location for:
1. Qlik Sense is %ProgramFiles%\Qlik\Sense\ 2. Repository database is %ProgramFiles%\Qlik\Sense\Repository\
And, other components is so on...
It may happen that we are unsure which location/folder was Qlik Sense and/or repository database installed to perform the said maintenance. This article explains one of the ways to quickly find it.
Environment: Applicable to any Qlik Sense version and Windows server 2008 R2 or higher.
Resolution
First, you need to ensure repository is running on the same server as you are on. Check services console to identify existence of Qlik Sense repository service and repository database service.
Next, open Windows Task Manager > Details tab and find out the executable named repository.exe for repository service. Note, you will see this executable under task manager only if repository service is in running state.
Right click on repository.exe and select Open File Location. This will take you to the path where bin folder of repository is located. The parent folder is where Qlik Sense and/or repository was installed. E.g. if file location opens us D:\QlikSense\Repository\PostgreSQL\<database version>\bin then it means Qlik Sense was likely installed under D:\QlikSense and repository service under D:\QlikSense\PostgreSQL\
See Serivces for a list of other components and their executable name
