Cannot add extension in QMC

Adding an extension in QMC fails with error "can't add extension". The extension is valid and can be successfully imported in other environments.
Qlik Sense Enterprise Shared persistence
The shared location configured during Qlik Sense installation may have been deleted or the Qlik Sense service user may have lost access to it.
Verify that the shared location configured during Qlik Sense Installation exists and the Qlik Sense service user has access to it. The configured shared locations can be seen in the 'ServiceCluster' section in QMC. In QMC, navigate to Configure System->Service Cluster.
