Manually setting the Welcome Message functions as a workaround for this issue because this bypasses the process of scanning all the AD resources to attempt to find the display/friendly name for the user.
Short term / Workaround:
Manually set the welcome message. Do this in Accesspoint by clicking "Favorites & Profile" -> Profile -> edit "Refer to me as: " and set it to some value.
Consolidate Active Directory (AD) resources (QMC > System > Setup > DSC Cluster > Active Directory > General > Directory Service > Path) .
