Fetching data with a Qlik GoogleBigQuery connection fails with:

ERROR [HY000] [Simba][BigQuery] (100) Error interacting with REST API: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates

Environment:

Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows
QlikView

Resolution

The issue is related to an outdated Certificate installed on the server or local machine.

The certificates will continue to be updated and can be be downloaded manually from the Google Trust Services website: https://pki.goog/
Once downloaded, the certificate needs to be added to the root level.

! As per December 2019, the certificate to download is the GTS GIA4 certificate.
! Prior to this it was the GTS GIA3 certificate. Please review the current list on the Google Trust Services for the up to date one.

Example:

GIAG4 RSA 2048, SHA-256 bd:1f:9a:24:e0:7d:4b:35:72:6e:d7:f0:65:7a:6f:d9:47:1a:06:72 Dec 15, 2021

Download and install the certification on every machine that uses the Qlik Google BigQuery Connector.

The certificate should be installed to Certificates (Local Computer) > Trusted Root Certification Authorities > Certificates or Certificates (Local Computer) >  Intermediate Certification Authorities > Certificates
