With a QlikView Publisher licensed, you are able to configure a Source Document Folder for your QlikView Source Documents.
Source Documents are the .qvw files that are being reloaded and from which the resulting end-user .qvws are created.
It is important that the Source Document folder and any QlikView Server Mounted Folders are kept separate.
Note that:
- Source folders are accessed by QlikView Distribution Service(QDS).
- Root folder and Mounted folders are accessed by QlikView Server Service(QVS).
- During a typical Publisher-to-QVS reload, following activities happen:
- QDS creates a session to open a QVW file from Source Folder.
- QDS reloads the opened QVW file.
- QDS saves and closes the reloaded QVW file.
- QDS re-open the new QVW file.
- QDS transfers the new QVW file to QVS
- QVS saves and closes the new QVW file into Mounted folder
- As shown above, different folders are accessed by different processes. If these folders are set to be the same folder, then multiple processes will access the same folder at the same time causing conflict
