Qlik Notification Connector | None of the supported authentication methods is accepted by the server

In Qlik Web Connector version 2.28.2, the Notification connector may fail with error 'None of the supported authentication methods is accepted by the server'. The previous version did succeed with the same configuration.
Cause
SMTP server may not be set up to require/expect authentication. The old version handled this differently and likely queried the server and skipped the authentication. The new version tries to authenticate regardless if you specify a password and then errors.
Resolution
This can be overcome by supplying a blank password in the parameter list.
