NPrinting Designer Fails to Open with Error - Only One Instance Can Run At a Time

Trying to edit a new office report (MS Excel, PPTX or Word) in NPrinting designer and receive the error "NPrinting Designer Fails to Open with Error - Only One Instance Can Run At a Time"

Scenario 1:
What is the expected result? The NPrinting designer opens and I can edit the template
What is the actual result? Excel opens but produces an error.
Clicking on the Edit Template button again results in an error that only one instance can run at a time


Scenario 2:
A previous forcible closure of the NP designer results in template error message and when clicking 'OK' a completely blank report designer template opens.

Cause:

1. Another 2nd instance of NPrinting is started
2. An MS Office process was left open after forcibly close the NP designer via the task manager. If the designer is not closed cleanly, the ms excel process is left open and must be shut down manually in the windows task manager.

Resolution:

Scenario 1:
Just close the open second instance of the NP designer

Scenario 2:
1. Reboot the designer computer
or
2. Open Task Manager

3. End task on Qlik NPrinting Designer process




4. End Task on the MS Excel process
