By enabling Windows security policy System cryptography: Force strong key protection for user keys stored on the computer, Rim node loses connection to the central node.

Environment:

Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows

The Windows setting "System cryptography: Force strong key protection for user keys stored on the computer" is enabled. This setting is not supported by Qlik Sense.

Proposed action: Disable "System cryptography: Force strong key protection for user keys stored on the computer".

To do this:

  1. On the Start screen, type secpol.msc, and then press ENTER.
  2. Navigate to \Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options
  3. Double click on "System cryptography: Force strong key protection for user keys stored on the computer"
  4. Be sure that no option is defined in "Local Security Settings".

Registry setting can also be applied:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Cryptography\ForceKeyProtection has type REG_DWORD that must be deleted to set it back to defaults

If the change was due to a policy update, the policy must be updated, then a force update run on all nodes to initiate the updates "run gpupdate /force"

Restart the services on the Central node then the RIM.
