Lookup() expression performance vs ApplyMap() in QlikView or Qlik Sense

In general ApplyMap() is faster and should not significantly slow down your load time as compared with the Lookup() function. However, ApplyMap can only be used if you wish to map a single value into your table. For more fields, you will need to use Lookup or other methods like Join, if you wish to combine your results into a single table.

 

The advantage with the Applymap() function is that it is very fast compared to the Lookup() function and the structure is easier to understand. The drawback is that you need to prepare a dedicated mapping table before you can use it.
