Disabling the Navigation and Menu button in Qlik Sense is not possible and is not feasible as well as there is not out-of-box feature to perform this change. The tool bar with Navigation and Menu button is a vital part of the product design. If one really wants to hide these two buttons, the hub.js and css scripting files would need edited where the tool bar in design code is written. However, it would reflect across all the apps irrespective of it is published or in edit mode or in Work stream in hub.

The changes made to scripting files would reflect across all the apps in the product and user would not be able to see the Navigation and Menu button even while creating reports/apps/visualizations which is not a feasible situation considering the fact that one needs those buttons while working on dashboard, visualizations, reports for various purposes as described below.

Note :

  • Purpose of the Navigation is to enable user to navigate through various different modules of Qlik Sense like App overview, Data manager, Data load editor, Data model viewer and Hub.
  • Purpose of the Menu button will allow user to easily add data, export sheet to PDF or duplicate sheet, delete sheets or one can access Help page quickly using the Menu button.
  • Modifying the .js and css files mentioned is not supported, and would need to be rolled back if any issue arises in this area of the Qlik Sense product and Qlik Support assistance is requested.

If one wishes to do it for particular sheets or apps, it can be achieved by using Mashups or Single Configuration window in Dev hub. This has to be performed manually.

Another option to configure reverse proxy to redirect the option on the menu such as "Open Hub" to  a preferable landing site to hide Hub access.

Customers can also disable some functionalities via security rules, as described in the community and our knowledge base (see How to disable Edit/Duplicate sheet function on published app?)
