NPrinting: Not possible to connect to QlikView Cluster when using Certificate communication (HTTPS)
Article Number: 000041872 | Last Modified: 2019/04/30
In NPrinting, when trying to connect to a QlikView Cluster that is using Certificates for inter-service secured communication
(https), it will fail.Environments:
Working as designed. At the time of update to this article, there is currently not a high priority with implementing a new feature to allow the integration using https. Additional documentation notes on requirement of Group based authentication has been added to Qlik's documentation on Connecting to QlikView.
- ID 1549 - Nprinting: Support for Connection to QlikView Cluster when certificate communication is used in QlikView Server
Currently, Certificate communication for QlikView Server is not a supported configuration in order to connect from NPrinting to a QlikView Cluster..
There is NO workaround to keep using the HTTPS protocol in the Address field of the NPrinting Connection to the QlikView Cluster.
The installation of server certificates will NOT allow the use of HTTPS in the Address field of NPrinting Connection.
You have to use HTTP in the Address field of NPrinting Connection.
The QlikView Server must be set to use QlikView Administrators group for communication in order for it to work normally.
The data gained from QMS via the URL http://servername:4799/QMS/Service contains just the list of QVPs of the QV server in the QMC, which isn't sensitive.
When you then connect to one of the QlikView Servers in the cluster with the QVP protocol instead of connecting to the QlikView Cluster, the connection is completely secure because the QlikViewProtocol (QVP) is encrypted.
In Summary, NPrinting connection to QV cluster cannot be changed to https but is also not a security risk as qvp is encrypted.
