Qlik NPrinting Server Engine and Designer Anti Virus Folder Exclusions

To eliminate the chance that AntiVirus, AntiMalware, and other security-related software cause corruption or lock up files in the Qlik environment, or cause issues during an installation/upgrade/patch, some folders should be excluded from live scanning.
Impact of Virus/EDR/ATP scans locking Qlik related files (such as .qvw files, binary Qlik Sense app files as well as NPrinting task files, etc...) can result in loading and refresh failures as well as performance issues.
In Qlik NPrinting's case, these issues can be caused by:
- locked or quarantined NPrinting system files
- deleted NPrinting system files
Please note that usual anti-virus exclusions might not apply to the EDR and ATP setup, talk to the vendor to get the exclusions in place.
Environment:
Overly aggressive antivirus settings that can impact the normal expected performance of the NPrinting Server and NPrinting Engine server computers.
Add the following Antivirus folder exceptions on your Qlik NPrinting servers:
On the NPrinting server and NP Engine computers exclude:
- C:\Program Files\NPrintingServer
- C:\ProgramData\NPrinting
- C:\Users\NPServiceAccount
- C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\.erlang.cookie
On the Qlik NPrinting server also exclude:
- C:\NPrintingBackups
NOTE: NPServiceAccount is the account used to run the NPrinting server and NP engine service and MUST be dedicated to running a single NP engine only for QlikView and QlikView Qlik Sense deployments.
On the NPrinting designer computer, exclude:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\NPrinting
- C:\Users\YourUserAccount
(NOTE: For versions between NPrinting 17 and NPrinting April 2018 exempt the following)
- C:\Windows\.erlang.cookie
