To completely remove Qlik Sense Desktop, follow these steps:
- Backup all your Apps
- Uninstall Qlik Sense Desktop from Control Panel / Uninstall programs
- Delete the program folders located in:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Programs\Qlik\Sense
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Programs\Common Files\Qlik\Custom Data
- Clear the Windows registry (for advanced removal - usually unnecessary) Only carry this step out if you are comfortable with editing the Windows Registry. Qlik Support cannot assist in restoring a system damaged by the registry having been modified incorrectly.
- Open regedit using an administrator account
- Press F3 (to open the search window)
- Search for Qlik
- Delete the located registry key
- Press F3 again and continue until all references to Qlik Sense are removed
If the uninstall fails with:

Proceed with one of these two options:
Method 1
- Identify and delete the folders containing the installation and the storage. The standard paths are the following:
Installation:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Programs\Qlik\Sense
Storage:
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Qlik (please note this also contains your Apps and Extensions folders so as mentioned take a back up of these first before removing this folder)
- Manually remove the software from the Programs and Features list by following these instructions:

Method 2
If the system does not point at the correct temp location to proceed with the uninstall, follow these steps:
- Open regedit
- Seach for HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
- Change the path in "Personal" entry to a local path, but remember the old path!
- Execute the uninstall again.
- Change the path in "Personal" to back to your old path.
