When runs a task from NPrinting management console, you will see multiple qv.exe is running on task manager.
Run 4 qv.exe on Windows 2012 Server R2 (2 CPU/16 cores)
Run 2 qv.exe on Windows 2008 Server R2 (2 CPU/8 cores)
Run 2 qv.exe on Windows 2012 Server R2 (4 CPU/4 cores)
The total number of QV.exe process should be as following.
- Active QV.exe processes are limited to the number of cores of the machine the Engine is running on.
- Total QV.exe processes can be higher than the number of cores if some of the QV.exe instances are in fact closing the document so they're not actively consuming resources.
So on 16 cores machines you should expect to see normally between 1 and 16 QV.exe processes, depending on system load, and if you have high load and use a high number of QV documents as data sources you should consider normal to have even more than 16 instances, of which 16 will be active and the rest closing the document, so they should disappear as soon as the document is in fact closed.
