Sense - AppMigration logging a new file every second
Article Number: 000008113 | Last Modified: 2018/06/12
Description
The AppMigration log folder produces a log file every second. The folder may have thousands of files in a short time.
Cause
This issue is caused when the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the Sense Server is completely different from the FQDN that is listed in DNS.
The server did not know how to reach itself. This is something some customers do frequently by aliasing their virtual servers. The Sense server did not know what to do and the only fix was to add an entry to the hosts file.
May typically be seen with Amazon Cloud environments or possibly when 3rd party DNS provider is used.
Resolution
The following instructions need to be performed to address the issue:
An entry pointing back to the server in the host file is needed so it can reach itself.
For example: 127.0.0.1 server.company.com
May need to restart the server to pick up the Host file change, at a minimum restart the services.
For 2012 the Hosts file is located: %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\ For Windows 7 the Hosts file is located: %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\
