It is recommended that the user documents, source documents, log directories, and .pgo files are excluded from the antivirus scanning. Impact of Virus/EDR/ATP scans locking Qlik related files can result in loading and refresh failures as well as performance issues.

Please note that usual antivirus exclusions might not apply to the EDR and ATP setup, talk to the vendor to get the exclusions in place.

See Installing QlikView Server available on Qlik Help.

Environment:

QlikView

Exclude the following installation folders and their sub-folders from on-access virus scan. All locations listed here are default locations.

  • C:\ProgramData\QlikTech
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\QlikView
  • C:\Program Files\QlikView

Exclude QlikView Document and UserDocument folders, if they are not in default ProgramData\QlikTech location.

To locate the storage used, open the QlikView Management Console (QMC), navigate to System > Setup > select the QlikView server node > open the Folders tab. It lists the configured Root Folder and all the Mounted Folders.

To locate the Source Document folders and QlikView Distribution Service Application Data folder, open the QlikView Management Console (QMC), navigate to System > Setup > select the Distribution Service > open the General tab. It lists the Application Data Folder and all the Source Folders.

The QVConnect folder for the Desktop Client, stored in C:\Windows\TEMP\QVConnect\
Since some companies' policies will not allow excluding the content of the TEMP folder, the location of QVConnect can be moved to a convenient place by following the resolution from this article, and applying the exclusions there.

Should the folders mentioned above being hosted on a different machine, for instance, a File Server, and accessed via a network path (UNC) by the QVS and QDS, make sure that the exclusions are put in place on that machine, using the local path.

Specifically exclude the following file extensions in QlikView related folders mentioned above.

  • .QVF
  • .QVW
  • .QVD
  • .LOG
  • .META
  • .PGO
  • .SHARED
  • .TSHARED
  • .XML
