A QlikView file (.qvw or .qvd) fails to reload with the error:
QVX_PIPE_ERROR
The symptom of this error is that the script log will contain the QVX_PIPE_ERROR followed by a general script error and a failed load execution, like in the example below:
QVX_PIPE_ERROR:
Error: OLEDB read failed
General Script Error
Execution Failed
Execution finished
Environment:
QlikView
Resolution
Most commonly the root cause is lack of resources for the QlikView process to finish the load of data. This can be seen though system monitor and will manifest as all CPU and/or memory being allocated during the load. This scenario has mainly three possible solution;
- Add more resources (CPU power and/or memory) to the machine running the reload
- Streamline the reload script to use less resources, for example by dropping temporary tables
- Disable other processes (including other QlikView reloads) allocating too much resources during the failing QlikView reload.
The lack of resources could originate from the hardware not being setup in a QlikView optimal way, so please consider the recommended performance settings to make sure QlikView can operate as optimised as possible on the current hardware.
See BIOS Settings For Best Performance On QlikView Server And QlikView Publisher for information on performance settings.
