QlikView allows for the use of anonymous bookmarks. Anonymous bookmarks are tied to the user/session by using a MachineID as well as the user's client and browser used.
Note:
- Anonymous bookmarks cannot be shared.
- Anonymous bookmarks are not automatically cleared and can lead to a bloated .SHARED or .TSHARED file.
To allow Anonymous Bookmarks:
- Open the QlikView Management Console
- Navigate to System > Setup > QVS@Node
- Open the Documents tab
- Mark the checkbox for Allow Server Objects and Allow Anonymous Server Bookmarks
How to manage Anonymous Bookmarks
The bookmarks will be listed in the Management Console as Server Objects and can be deleted from there.
- Open the QlikView Management Console
- Navigate to Documents > User Documents > locate the document.
- Click the Server tab
- Navigate to Server Objects
- Anonymous Bookmarks are listed and identified with the owner <Anonymous MachineId>
Example:
An anonymous bookmark created in AJAX, using Google Chrome, can be revisited if the user opens the next session with the same browser and client combination.
If the user opens the same document anonymously from Internet Explorer, the MachineID will be different and the bookmark will not be visible.
The same applies to Internet Explorer and a bookmark created in the Plugin. It will not be visible in AJAX from the same Internet Explorer session.
