The QlikView Server reference manual refers to Document CAL restrictions in regards of contiguous data model and chasm traps. The purpose of these limitations is to ensure that a single QlikView application (QVW) file only hosts one application. Multiple applications in one application file is considered license abuse. "The Document CAL can only be used with documents that have a single contiguous data model and do not contain any
chasm traps between tables."A contiguity is a continuous mass, or a series of things in contact or in proximity. A contiguous data model refers to data tables or islands that together form one logical data model.
The purpose of this data model requirement is to not allow single applications that contain multiple logical data models, so that one application file could host several application interfaces.
Chasm traps occur when one table is connected to two or more tables by 1-to-N relationships. For example a customer can place many orders/and or place many loans.
The consequence of this is that the resulting dataset gets multiplication of rows.
