Knowing the permissions required is needed when migrating the QVPR/repository in Publisher or upgrade repository to a newer version.
NOTE:
Is should not be an issue when installing patch or service release with the exception of known issue 64310 fixed in the 11.20 SR4 release.

Cause
Permissions required when migrating or upgrading to a major version that changes the repository version.
Resolution
Note: Please ensure a backup of the database used has been collected prior to restoring any migrating database or upgrading.
Permissions needed during installation and upgrades of the QVPR(repository):
Permissions needed during installation and upgrades of the QVPR(repository):
- Database creation rights (this involves writing to the Master database)
- Once it´s created/updated, you need to be DBO(database owner) in the created db(database)
Note: Every time you upgrade to a new version(not patch or Service release) you need to put creation rights back on the account running Distribution Service
