When trying to start the services QDS and QMS, both of them gives error 1067 and will not start.
In the logfile it says "Error Exception=System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the registry key 'Global' is denied. " which indicates insufficient permissions. The issue points towards being regarding performance counters, but it is not possible to disable and/or remove them. All services works fine under another user local account which is in "Administrators" and "QlikView Administrators"
The issue appears like article #3049, but is a bit different, as most things have already been tried, such as:
- adding the service account to "Performance Log Users" & "Performance Monitor Users" groups does not help.
- lodctr /r or similar doesn't help either.
The problem is environmental, related to Windows permissions.
Solution: Give full control to services account to the following path HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Perflib . The account seems to have insufficient privileges to add monitoring counters, causing the services not to start.
