Description
Using Inputfields will often lead to .shared files increasing in size. This article describes what happens and what sizes can be expected.
Resolution
A document with input fields will create a .shared file when it is opened in a Qlikview Server. Due to underlying data structures the .shared file will grow with an average of 50-80 bytes/input field value when the input field value is changed.
Example 1: You have a listbox with 2000 input field rows in it and the .shared file is 2kb when you put your document on the Accesspoint. When User A accesses the document and changes an input field value the .shared file will grow to approx. 240 kb, i.e. ~60 byte/row. Then User B access the document and changes an input field value. The .shared file will now become 420 kb. This will continue for each unique user who has not yet accessed the document. Be aware that this number may vary due to the type of values in the fields. Please note that e.g. a table box with four columns of input field will count every field, if each column contains 1000 rows the .shared file will grow with 50-80 bytes times 4000 rows. The .shared file grows independently of how many input field values in the same data object the user changes.
Example 2: User A changes the value of four different input field rows in the listbox with 2000 input field rows, as in Example 1. The .shared file will still grow to approx. 240 kb, i.e. ~60 byte/row as in Example 1.
