End users receive "No Server" message in Access Point even though QlikView Server service is running. Virtual Memory warnings are prevalent in logs, indicating  lack of resources on the machine.

Symptoms:

  • Users accessing Access Point receives "No Server" message
  • QlikView Server service is running
  • Restart of the QlikView Server service resolves issue
  • Virtual Memory warnings in QlikView Server Event log

Environment:

The issue is caused by the Windows Server running out of resources.

Resolution:

To resolve this issue make sure you:

  1. Upgrade to latest Service Release of QlikView Server
  2. Change inactive session timeout to a smaller value to free memory (ex: 600 seconds)
  3. Change document timeout to a smaller value to free memory (ex: 5 minutes)
  4. Max Concurrent users should reflect what system can handle
  5. Free up disk space
  6. Increase the memory of the machine
  7. Ensure Windows paging file is sufficient

For more information about how to measure memory allocation on the Windows server platforms, see How to log CPU and memory with Microsoft Performance Monitor on a windows 2012 Server (PerfMon)
