Symptoms

  • Users receive a message "No Server" when they attempt to open the Access Point
  • QlikView Server Service is running in Windows service console
  • QlikView Server Service is disconnected in QlikView Management Console
  • Several Keberos errors may be found  in Windows Event Viewer > System relating to time

Environment:

QlikView

The system time on the server is off by more than 5 minutes, preventing Kerberos authentication to work.

Resolution:

  1. Turn on ExtendedErrorLoggingMode in QlikView Desktop client. See: How-to enable Extended Error logging in QlikView Desktop or Internet Explorer Plugin Link
  2. Launch QlikView Desktop and try to connect to the QlikView Server using File - Open in Server
  3. Investigate the generated log file for the error message: Error Connect .\ClientAuthentication.cpp 160 Could not InitializeSecurityContext 1398 There is a time and/or date difference between the client and server.
  4. Once this was verified, ensure that the server's time settings are realigned
