When visiting a secure page using HTTPS, the browser checks to make sure that all the elements on it can be loaded securely.

The connection between QlikView Plugin and QlikView Server is not secured using HTTPS but instead encrypted using Windows CryptoAPI (128-bit or 56-bit depending on support in the OS). Internet Explorer will not be able to verify this connection as secured and will give you the above warning.

Environment:

To resolve this issue do the following:

  1. Locate the file opendoc.htm found in C:\Program Files\QlikView\Server\QlikViewClients\QlikViewPlugin
  2. Rename the file opendoc.htm to opendoc.bak
  3. Rename the file opendoc_fix.htm to opendoc.htm

The above will launch the QlikView Plugin in a slightly different way, making sure Internet Explorer does not warn about unsecure items.

Technical note: The fix will launch QlikView Plugin using a CLSID which may change in future releases. When upgrading to a new major release of QlikView make sure to verify that QlikView Plugin launches successfully.
