Unable to generate the On-Demand report. Getting a message “Unable to connect to server” when connecting via Apple Safari and Apple mobile devices.

Environment

Resolution

The On Demand Report Generation is not an action supported for Qlik Sense Mobile, Apple Safari, or Apple mobile devices and not something we have on the roadmap. The described workaround is in fact the way to do it.

NTLM authentication is not correctly handled in the background by Safari browser, but it does work when the user opens the link directly so Safari is showing a popup allowing to log in.

Workaround:

  1. Open Safari and log into NPrinting with windows authentication and accept the certificate when prompted
  2. Open a separate tab in the same and open Qlik Sense hub, choose your sense app and sheet where the On Demand report button exists
  3. Run the On Demand report.
