Description:

Qlik Sense Images fail to Render Export Generate or Preview in NPrinting Designer or in NPrinting Web Console Publish Tasks

Environments Affected:

  • All Supported NPrinting versions

***********************************************************************

Note: Before proceeding to the resolutions section:

  • Restart Qlik Sense services
  • Restart NPrinting services
  • Retest

If issue persists, proceed below:

***********************************************************************

Resolutions:

1. Check & Update NPrinting Report and Reload NPrinting Connection

  • Click the Entity Checker button in the NPrinting Template editor and retest
  • This will ensure that the object or objects are valid (older versions of NPrinting may not have the object 'Entity checker' feature).
  • Right click on each table object and select 'update' from the context menu to update tables changed in the source QVW or QVF.
  • Save and close the report
  • Reload the NPrinting Connection
  • Open and preview the report
  • Move on to steps 2 through 5 if this does not solve the issue

NOTE: The following steps must be performed on your NPrinting Server/NPrinting Engine Computers.

2. Update Intranet Security settings:

  • Log onto the NPrinting server as the NPrinting service account (or run/as  the NP scheduler service account and access internet options via the IE browser then follow the steps below).
  • Go to '
    • 'Internet Options'
    • 'Intranet Security Settings'
    • 'sites'
    • 'advanced'
  • In the field 'add this website to zone' insert the FQDN address path of the Qlik Sense virtual proxy server. Use the central proxy address of your Qlik Sense deployment here as well as in your NPrinting connections proxy address path.  (Insert both as shown below if applicable)

PLEASE NOTE

  • This step must be done while logged on as the NPrinting Scheduler Service domain account for these settings to take effect across the enterprise.
  • Then NPrinting and Qlik Sense servers and the domain user account(s) which runs the NPrinting services must all be members of the same domain.

(Note: It may be necessary to go on to step 3 below if steps 1 and 2 do not resolve the issue)

Note: Proceed to Step 3 if Resolution 1 and 2 do not solve the issue:

3. Enable increased timeout values

  • on the renderer.config file to as high as 300 secs. This is mentioned here and resolution 4 therein:

https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/Advanced-troubleshooting-of-the-GRPC-and-or-...

4. Ensure that you have disabled IE Enhanced Security on your NPrinting server

5. Content Security policy settings in Qlik Sense can cause images in Nprinting to fail

The use of CSP (content security policy settings), this may be the root cause if none of the above is working. In this case you may simple remove the 'additional headers' in Qlik Sense or add the required 'additional headers as needed. Please work with your IT security team to determine the correct 'additional headers' for your specific environment.

Finally, if none of the above solve the issue, please use the following to gather the HAR file necessary to investigate the issue and start a support case

Hi Frank,

I've tried the steps under resolution however i still experience the same problem.

What i have noticed is that when generating the cache / Reload Metadata under connections, then editing the template on the report, preview the report, there some images that are not displayed. This behaviour is erratic.

I am currently using Qlik Sense version : September 2020 Patch 4 and Nprinting version : September 2020.
