What to do if you forget the Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows administrator password

In a scenario where the administrator account password for Qlik Sense Management Console (QMC) has been forgotten, these are the potential next steps:

  • The user is a Windows Domain account. Contact your local IT to have the password reset.
  • If this is not possible:
    • The Windows user who first activated the Qlik Sense server is by default a RootAdmin. Try using this user to log in to QMC.
    • Check to see if the service account used to run the Qlik Sense services has full administrative rights (RootAdmin role) by attempting to log in to QMC with it.
    • Look in the server's local Administrator's group if there are any other local administrators and attempt logging in with those accounts.
    • Otherwise, the original RootAdmin account can be determined by connecting to the Qlik Sense database.
