Summary of the Issue:
- After upgrading to Qlik NPrinting and Qlik Sense versions September 2019 release, it is no longer possible to edit NPrinting report templates and the following error is produced:
Environments affected:
- All versions of Qlik NPrinting 17+ platform
What causes this problem?
Answer: An older version of the Qlik NPrinting Database is restored over a recently upgraded version of NPrinting
Example Scenario causing this problem:
- An NPrinting upgrade is performed.
- Immediately after the upgrade, a unnecessary NP Database restore is performed using a manually backed up older version of the NPrinting Database
- ! Warning: It is not necessary to perform a database restore after an NPrinting upgrade.
Workaround:
- Roll back to the previously used version of Qlik NPrinting. You can either restore a viable VM image or uninstall NPrinting Server/Engine from your current server if you do not have an VM image backup.
- Install the pre-upgraded version Qlik NPrinting Server
- Find the version of the Qlik NPrinting database backup file that matches the NPrinting server version
- Restore the correct version of the Qlik NPrinting database stored here "C:\ProgramData\NPrinting" or from a manual backup taken just before the recent upgrade attempt. It is imperative that the database used to restore onto NPrinting is the same version NPrinting that the backup was taken from.
Note: Since this issue was first reported, it is possible to verify if an older NP database was restored over a recently upgraded NPrinting server. For details, see the 'related information section below:
