Connecting to QlikView or generating lengthy reports including a large data set may fail with one of the below errors:

Qlik.NPrinting.Engine.Consumer.ConnectionResolvers 20220905T194305.669+02:00 INFO VENTASJLR 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 COMException when trying to open a resolver for connection navigator=qlikview;documentpath=qvp://10.10.10.102/apps/COMPASS.qvw, no worries, we will try again. ERROR: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component

Error: Navigator stuck or died on connection navigator=qlikview;documentpath="qvp://hostname/appname", forcing close of resolver. 1 unprocessed request(s) will be reenqueued. ERROR: Qlik.Reporting.Engine.Messages.Exceptions.NavigatorDiedException: Navigator navigator=qlikview;documentpath="qvp://hostname/appname";qlikviewversion=version-namuber. process died or has been terminated and can't be used anymore to resolve requests.

Resolution

These errors may be caused by one of the following:

  • Large amount of data (app size)
  • App location (latency)
  • Unsupported items in the document
  • Active Virus scan interfering with the read process

We suggest:

  1. Add report filters to reduce the report and data size and try again.
  2. Isolate the task that is running and run just the task without any other simultaneous tasks executing at the same time to verify if this is resource related.
  3. Bring a copy of the app onto the Qlik NPrinting server, ruling out or identifying harddrive/network speed as bottleneck.
  4. Investigate if unsupported items are present in the source .qvw file: NPrinting: Unsupported QlikView Document items, System Configurations and other limitations
  5. Make sure QlikView Desktop installed on the NPrinting server is of the same version as the QlikView Server and documents.
  6. Verify that the recommended AntiVirus exclusions are set: Qlik NPrinting Server Engine and Designer Anti Virus Folder Exclusions
